Job Description

The Library Data Strategist works closely with colleagues across the library to find strategic solutions to library data-related problems. Working under the Associate Director of Library Data Strategies and alongside the Technical Services and Metadata Services departments, this position develops and maintains connections between University Libraries systems, such as Figshare, Alma, Springshare, and Wikibase, among others. The Library Data Strategist is a problem-solver who assesses problems, researches options, suggests solutions, and implements and maintains processes that improve the ease and efficiency of workflows for data-related library services and projects. This position will establish and build collaborative working relationships with library faculty, staff, and students. An ideal candidate for this position will have an interest in helping others and providing clear, documented solutions, as well as a strong desire to learn, ask questions, and actively seek out new information.

Required Qualifications

-Bachelor’s Degree with significant experience working with library technology, or Master's degree in Library Science or equivalent field such as Computer Science or Information Technology
-Experience with processing information using Python
-Experience documenting workflows and processes, including versioning and transfer of data and information
-Excellent time management and ability to successfully handle multiple priorities
-Effective interpersonal and communication skills
-Experience working autonomously and meeting established deadlines
-Experience producing clean, efficient documentation based on specifications respecting maintainability

Preferred Qualifications

-Demonstrated knowledge of library systems, such as repository software (hosted or local), an ILS or discovery layer, or another systems infrastructure in use within a library
-Experience in libraries, museums, or higher education
-Experience with Linux, Docker, and AWS
-Experience with library data standards, which may include catalog data, linked data, or digital collections data
-Experience using and/or creating APIs and API documentation
-Demonstrated commitment to improving organizational culture
-Experience working effectively within a collaborative team environment
-Experience solving complex problems in group environments

$60,000 minimum dependent on qualifications and experience
