Job Summary/Basic Function:

The Assistant Director of Alumni Traditions and Community Engagement will serve as a key member of the Alumni Relations team for the Boise State Foundation with responsibilities for Alumni traditional events and programs, and will assist Sr. Director of Regional and Affinity Alumni Programs with local, regional and affinity-based events. The Assistant Director will serve as event coordinator for Boise State University Homecoming serving as Co-Chair on the Homecoming Steering Committee, and signature Bronco Bash home and away football events. The Assistant Director will also provide staff support for other traditional activities such as the Boise State Auction Gala and Distinguished Alumni Awards. This position will work closely with partners across the university and specifically with the Homecoming Steering Committee, Bronco Athletic Association and Boise State Athletics to deliver a continuous value proposition for alumni to support and extend the mission of Boise State University.

A nonprofit Idaho organization, the Boise State University Foundation was established in 1964 for the benefit of Boise State University. We work to secure philanthropic support for the university by developing and nurturing relationships with our alumni and friends and stewarding gifts made to support Boise State. The Foundation works closely with university leadership, the Boise State University Alumni Association, and the Bronco Athletic Association.

Level Scope:
|
Provides immediate supervision to a unit or group of operational or technical employees. Sets and delegates day-to-day tasks to achieve operational objectives. A portion of time may be spent performing individual tasks related to the unit; however, supervisory activities must constitute a primary part of the job. Supervises unit operations to ensure compliance with departmental or campus policies, procedures, and defined internal controls. Problems typically involve a single area, process or constituent group. Ensures accountability and stewardship of campus resources (operational, financial, and human) in compliance with departmental standards and procedures.

Essential Functions:
|
60% of the time the Assistant Director:
Event Management
- Create, coordinate, and implement alumni tradition events in alignment with Alumni Relations strategic objectives and alumni needs while working collaboratively with the entire alumni team including staff, board members, foundation staff, university employees, university leadership and alumni volunteers. Event management includes working with the entire alumni and donor relations teams to create and implement successful events, which may include signature events (e.g. Distinguished Alumni Awards, Auction and Gala) or chapter and affinity programs (e.g. Impact Golf Tournament, CM Golf Tournament).
- Work with staff to create strategic event opportunities based upon Alumni Relations goals and objectives and alumni needs.
- Manage budget based on cost/revenue analysis; coordinate reservations and payment processing.
- Manage relationship with Foundation data managers as related to database event module.
- Coordinate sponsorships, vendor services contracts and oversee fulfillment.
- Recruit and organize staff and volunteers.
Homecoming
- Serve as Co-chair for Boise State Homecoming Steering Committee.
- Coordinate campus advisory committee to set overall agenda for homecoming.
- Recruit and co-lead working campus committee; oversee all meetings including writing and distributing meeting minutes.
- Serve as event coordinator for Boise State’s Homecoming week activities for alumni relations.
- Coordinate alumni reunions with campus committee, and various university departments, affinity groups and clubs.
- Lead volunteer effort for Alumni Association Board and chapters to participate in Homecoming parade.
- Oversee Homecoming sponsor and partner fulfillment.
Bronco Bash Home and Away Events
- Serve as Alumni Relations representative to create, coordinate, and implement both home and away athletic events in collaboration with the Bronco Athletic Association and Boise State Athletics. Create strategic engagement opportunities in collaboration with Senior Director of Regional and Affinity Programs, Donor Relations, and Development Directors.
- Create and execute strategic alumni engagement plans at athletic events including postseason events.
35% of the time the Assistant Director:
Support regional, local and affinity programs
- Assist with all details, logistics, staffing, and management of expenses and revenue.
- Develop and complete follow up strategies to document alumni engagement and track success metrics.
- Contribute to the development of successful programs designed to drive alumni engagement.
- Assess programs to ensure continued alumni engagement, growth and impact.
5% of the time the Assistant Director:
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
|
- Understand and appreciate the goals of alumni relations.
- Event management including scheduling, facility use agreements, and coordination of event staff and event logistics.
- Demonstrated track record of success in creating special events and programs.
- Strong affinity and passion for advancing Boise State University.
- Ability to work and excel in a team environment.
- Demonstrated track record of success in relationship building; sophisticated rapport skills with the ability to build trust with a variety of constituencies within Boise State University and with alumni outside the university.
- Exceptional organizational skills and ability to balance multiple tasks, constituencies, timelines, and the ability to work under pressure.
- Exemplary writing and communication skills.
- Experience with marketing best practices, familiarity with a variety of social media platforms.
- Computer literacy with database experience; experience with Raiser’s Edge a plus.
- Proven track record of providing high quality customer service.
- Budget management experience.
- Fundraising experience.
- Experience with quantitative and qualitative data collection and assessment.
- Knowledge of the internet and on-line technology.
- Ability to recruit and manage volunteers.
- Ability to travel and work evenings or weekends for event.

Minimum Qualifications:
|
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience.
|
Preferred Qualifications:
|
- Minimum 2 years' experience working in alumni relations; fundraising, and/or event planning.
- Degree in communication, marketing, business or relevant degree. Experience working in higher education.
|
Salary and Benefits:
|
