About the role 

As a Graduate Engineer, you’ll gain hands-on exposure across multiple project functions, building a strong understanding of what’s required to successfully deliver civil construction projects. Working as part of a collaborative team, you’ll support delivery in line with quality, safety, environmental, time and production objectives.

You’ll get the opportunity to: 

  • learn about drawings, specifications, and workplace health, safety, environmental and quality (HSEQ) requirements for all site-related activities
  • work as part of a team to ensure core project functions are being delivered, including purchasing materials, supporting financial functions, submitting progress claims, assisting with quality monitoring and contributing to creating solutions where needed
  • maintain a daily diary outlining details of site meetings, discussions, works performed, and inspections
  • actively participate in training initiatives and skill development programs.
  • Your motivation will energise our collaborative team across the delivery of diverse projects in Perth and regional Western Australia.

Key responsibilities

  • Assisting with site engineering activities in line with project drawings, specifications and HSEQ requirements
  • Supporting the implementation of project quality, safety and environmental management plans
  • Assisting with construction programming, procurement of materials and coordination of site activities
  • Supporting commercial functions including subcontractor progress claims and monthly reporting
  • Assisting with the preparation of project progress claims, variations and extensions of time
  • Monitoring daily site activities to support productivity, quality and cost control
  • Maintaining accurate site records, including daily diaries, inspections and documentation
  • Participating in training and development initiatives as part of BMD’s graduate program

About you 

You’re a motivated civil engineering graduate who’s keen to build a career in construction and gain hands-on site experience on real projects.

You will have:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Civil/structural Engineering (Recognised by Engineers Australia)
  • A strong interest in site-based project delivery and infrastructure construction
  • A safety-first mindset with an understanding of quality and environmental compliance
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • A proactive, practical approach and willingness to learn from experienced professionals
  • The ability to manage priorities and maintain accurate records
