About the role 

Reporting to the Finance Manager Urbex is now sourcing a Senior Property Accountant to work closely with key stakeholders including joint venture partners, auditors and relevant Urbex and BMD Group management and staff, located in our Manly office in Brisbane.

This role will see you responsible for month end and year end accounting processes, maintenance of the general ledger, financial models for all projects and business processes. It will also see you involved in the preparation of monthly and periodic financial and risk reporting for the Urbex business and BMD Group to ensure informed decision-making for the effective performance of its property portfolio.

Key responsibilities

  • Support the regular financial and risk reporting requirements of Urbex and BMD Group to allow for informed decision-making and effective management of its development / property portfolio.
  • Support development managers with the preparation, management and updating of project financial models including sensitivity analysis, establishing new projects and continual review of cash flow budgets.
  • Preparation of monthly financial statements and forecast updates for joint venture reporting requirements.
  • Complete month-end accounting and finance processes including review and updating of project models, monitoring of overhead allocations and re-forecasting where required.
  • Support the preparation of monthly management accounts, updated forecasts and board reports.
  • Assist in the preparation of quarterly and annual budgets and cashflow forecasts.
  • Assist with half-yearly and yearly audit processes.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards (e.g. AASB/IFRS) and internal policies.
  • Other accounting and finance related tasks as required.

About you 

  • Bachelor’s degree in business (Finance/Accounting/Commerce) essential.
  • Minimum 5-years post graduate experience within the property sector in a commercially focused role.
  • Strong commercial judgement, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Advanced Excel skills (financial modelling, reconciliations and scenario analysis)
  • Strong attention to detail and process improvement mindset.
  • Confidence in communicating with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Practical, delivery-focused and outcomes-driven, with a willingness to learn and grow in the change discipline.
