Job Summary/Basic Function:

Provides strategic vision and directs all recruitment activities. Oversees the development of systems and procedures to recruit a complex student population.

This position may have the opportunity to work a hybrid schedule where a mix of in-person work from a Boise State worksite and an alternative work location within the State of Idaho is utilized. Candidates must be able to work on-site as needed.

The Enrollment and Student Success Recruitment team is a dedicated group of student-centered professionals committed to providing high-quality support and guidance to students from various backgrounds. The team focuses on building meaningful relationships with prospective students, understanding their academic and professional goals, and guiding them toward programs that align with their aspirations. Through collaborative and thoughtful recruitment practices, the team supports access, enrollment, and student success while contributing to the university’s broader mission to advance higher education.

Level Scope:

Manages a large team typically consisting of both experienced professionals and subordinate managers. Focuses on tactical and operational plans with short to midterm focus; significant responsibility to achieve broadly stated goals through subordinate managers. Determines objectives, directs programs, develops strategies and policies, manages human, financial, and physical resources, and functions with a high degree of autonomy. Requires broad management and leadership knowledge to lead project or program teams in one dept/job family. Proactively assesses risk to establish systems and procedures to protect organizational assets. Determines campus strategies for a program with campus wide impact.

Essential Functions:

● Direct comprehensive recruitment activities and admission support for education programs.
● Lead continuous improvement of recruitment execution to effectively build a strong pipeline of convertible prospective students for partner programs.
● Coach a team of recruitment professionals focused on undergraduate and graduate lead nurturing and recruitment. Set clear goals, benchmarks and accountability plans.
● Direct all complex and multidimensional services provided by the recruitment team to prospective students interested in courses and programs provided by Boise State University.
● Direct efforts to meet or exceed lead conversion, funnel progression and program admission conversion benchmarks. Track and analyze admissions for programs and adapt strategies to increase enrollment yield.
● Direct the tracking of program prospects through program admitted students and delivery of timely and effective reports. Define, gather, and organize data into coherent strategy and manage reporting.
● Foster direct and strategic partnerships with academic departments developing and/or executing programs, student services offices, university leadership, advising teams, marketing partners, and community stakeholders to support enrollment growth and a seamless student experience from inquiry through enrollment.
● Identify and implement lead generation and recruitment process improvement strategies that support long-term enrollment growth and operational effectiveness.
● Serve as a primary recruitment liaison for academic program partners by supporting enrollment goals, coordinating recruitment strategies, and ensuring alignment between program objectives and recruitment operations.
● Supervise, mentor, and support the professional development of recruitment staff and senior success coaches to ensure achievement of performance expectations and consistent service delivery.
● Provide ongoing coaching, training, and performance management to recruitment staff through workflow review, student interaction evaluation, and continuous feedback focused on recruitment best practices and conversion effectiveness.
● Establish and assess staff responsibilities, service standards, performance metrics, and accountability measures to support operational consistency and continuous improvement.
● Monitor recruitment outreach activity, workflow completion, and communication effectiveness to ensure quality engagement with prospective students and efficient team operations.
● Gather feedback from academic partners and internal stakeholders and incorporate recommendations into operational and service improvement efforts.
● Track and evaluate team and operational performance metrics to assess effectiveness and support continuous improvement initiatives.
● Remain current on emerging recruitment practices, enrollment technologies, CRM enhancements, and AI-supported tools to identify opportunities that improve recruitment operations and student engagement.
● May perform other duties as needed.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

● Proven success and knowledge in developing, implementing, and evaluating strategic recruitment plans with a focus on intensive student outreach and engagement, modeling best practice recruitment strategies.
● Experience leading, managing, and retaining motivated and team-oriented staff and creating a dynamic, collaborative, results-driven, and interactive environment.
● Proven success in sales or student recruitment process management with experience managing key identified success metrics.
● Ability to develop successful trust-based partnerships within higher education across broad constituencies.
● Ability to lead, manage, and retain motivated and team-oriented staff and create a dynamic, collaborative, results-driven, and interactive environment.
● Ability to exercise a high degree of initiative and judgment in interpreting and applying broad guidelines and principles to assigned functions.
● Ability to operate independently when planning and implementing strategy, setting priorities for staff, and leading change.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent, plus 7 years’ experience, including 3 years of management experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

● Master’s degree in Higher Education Administration, Business Administration, Organizational Leadership, Marketing, or a related field.
● At least 1 year of online student recruitment experience.
● At least 1 year of sales or customer service experience.

Salary and Benefits:
Salary range is $80,828.80 - $101,025.60 annually and is commensurate with experience. Boise State University provides a best-in-class benefits package, including (but not limited to):
