  • Temporary full‑time opportunity until June 2028 (35 hours per week), with potential for extension or conversion to ongoing
  • Office based in Parramatta, hybrid working supported
  • Salary ranges from $113,574 to $ 125,720 plus super and leave loading

 

The Business Advisor is positioned within the Finance team of the NSW Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water (DCCEEW) and provides financial and strategic advisory support to the Strategic Policy, Science and Engagement (SPSE) division to enable informed decision‑making and effective delivery of divisional priorities.

 

About the Role

The primary purpose of the role is to support effective financial management within the Strategic Policy, Science and Engagement division by providing high‑quality financial analysis, reporting and advisory services.

The role assists the business unit to understand its financial performance and resource position through the preparation and analysis of management reports, budgeting and forecasting. The Business Advisor also supports the integrity and effective use of critical financial information systems, ensuring data accuracy and providing advice and insights on complex financial and analytical matters to a range of internal stakeholders.

 

About You

In addition to meeting the essential requirements, you will bring demonstrated experience in collecting, analysing and presenting financial information to support the preparation of accurate budgets, forecasts and management reports in a timely manner to meet internal and external reporting requirements.

You will have proven experience managing General Ledger activities, month‑end and year‑end processes, and preparing high‑quality management reports. You bring strong analytical, problem‑solving and communication skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and deliver outcomes in a complex, fast‑paced environment.

Advanced working knowledge of MS Excel is essential. Experience using financial systems such as SAP and PRIME is desirable, as is being qualified or working towards a Certified Practising Accountant (CPA) or Chartered Accountant (CA).

 

Essential Requirements

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in accounting, business or commerce fields; experience and knowledge of financial and management accounting
  • Advanced Excel Skills
