The opportunity
The Artificial Intelligence Specialist leads the design, development and implementation of AI-driven solutions that enhance the EPA’s regulatory, operational and environmental intelligence capabilities. The role supports the agency’s digital transformation by applying advanced analytics, machine learning and automation to improve environmental monitoring, compliance, decision-making and service delivery.
About you
To be successful in this role, you will have the following key knowledge and experience:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess data quality, identify patterns, and propose evidence-based solutions.
- Demonstrated experience designing, developing, training, evaluating and deploying machine learning and artificial intelligence models to solve complex business or operational problems.
- Proficiency in programming languages and tools relevant to machine learning and data analysis (e.g. Python, R, TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-learn, SQL).
- Experience working with large and diverse datasets, including data processing, feature engineering, model optimisation and validation.
- Experience applying cloud-based and/or on-premise machine learning platforms and deployment tools (e.g. AWS, Azure, GCP, containerisation technologies).
- Ability to communicate complex technical concepts, model outputs and data insights clearly and effectively to technical and non-technical stakeholders
Also, it is an essential requirement of this role for the successful candidate to hold a degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Software Engineering, Mathematics, or related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
