Be part of a dynamic and innovative team that is shaping the future of technology at Lehigh University. We are seeking a highly skilled and passionate Senior DevOps Application Engineer to join our Library and Technology Services (LTS) department.

In this critical role, you will engage in the evaluation, planning, and implementation of cutting-edge technological solutions to ensure the reliability, availability, and performance of Lehigh University's IT infrastructure and applications. With a focus on bridging the gap between traditional systems engineering and application development, you will maintain and manage systems infrastructure both on-premises and in the cloud, as well as contribute to application development projects. The Lehigh community takes seriously our commitment to antiracism and The Principles of our Equitable Community.

Position Number: S87770

This position is a Grade: 11 - 40 with an approximate salary range of $81,450-$99,080 and is subject to change based on experience, skills and qualifications.

Key Responsibilities:

• Write code and scripts to develop and maintain applications and automation tools.
• Create new applications to meet the needs of the university and contribute to the development of new features and functionality for existing applications.
• Design, implement, manage, and maintain highly available and scalable infrastructure systems in a hybrid environment using Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
• Continuously improve performance, availability, and reliability of infrastructure systems.
• Analyze emerging technologies and assess their potential to meet the needs of the university.
• Implement comprehensive monitoring and alerting systems to ensure the observability of infrastructure. 
• Troubleshoot and resolve system issues, working with stakeholders to understand the impact and prioritize solutions.
• Collaborate with the team to continuously improve and implement DR/BC procedures

Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, or Information Systems or a related degree; Master's Degree preferred
• Five to eight years of related work experience
• Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
• In-depth knowledge of Windows and Linux operating systems, virtualization technologies such as VMWare, and cloud computing.
• Solid understanding of object-oriented programming (OOP) principles, data structures, and algorithms.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Experience with scripting & programming languages such as Python, PHP, Go, Bash, Perl, JavaScript or PowerShell.
• Experience with version control systems (Git) and DevOps practices.
• Familiarity with configuration management tools such as Salt, Ansible, Puppet, or Chef.
• Ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues in a timely and efficient manner.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
