North Idaho College Head Start is seeking a highly organized, community-minded Program Assistant in Coeur d Alene to support our mission of delivering high-quality services to children, families, and staff. This position plays a vital role in maintaining efficient office and center operations while serving as a key connector between administration, staff, families, and community partners.

The Program Assistant supports daily operations by coordinating onboarding activities, maintaining specialized records and databases, scheduling meetings and events, and managing purchasing and inventory needs. This role assists with compliance-related documentation, supports licensing and background check processes, prepares reports and program materials, and serves as recorder for program and committee meetings. You’ll help coordinate facility use and maintenance, order recruitment and janitorial supplies, manage calendars and travel arrangements, and support strategic planning and non-federal share tracking.

Minimum Qualifications
Education
Level I: A.A.S. Administrative Assistant or AA/AS in Business field or certification from a two-year college or professional/technical school or program.

Level II: Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Communication/Marketing, Public Administration or related field.

Experience
A minimum of one year's experience in an office setting.

Required License and/or Certifications:
• Meet all training and certification requirements for childcare licensing and Head Start Program Performance Standards.
• Maintain current Infant/child & Adult CPR and First Aid.
• Pass an enhanced background check including fingerprinting, as required by Head Start Program Performance Standards and Child Care Licensing requirements, prior to first day of work.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with people from diverse ethnic, cultural and linguistic backgrounds.
• Positive approach to Early Childhood Development programs, health, and social services.
• Demonstrated written, oral, and organizational skills.
• Advanced knowledge of commonly used computer software programs including data collection systems
• Demonstrate professional ethics and confidentiality.
• Represent the Head Start program in the community and with other professionals, positively and with professionalism.

Starting pay range: $18.42 - $20.03

Work Site Location: Head Start - Coeur d'Alene
Work Schedule: (July - June) 88% Full-time, with a break in the summer
