Suncorp, through GIO administer workers compensation across the various states in Australia. The two types of Workers Compensation schemes that GIO operate in are Managed funds and Underwritten. In the Managed Fund schemes GIO only administer the claims management and policies. The risk of profit in these schemes lies with the State Government and GIO is paid a fee for the service of managing the claims and policies. GIO is in Managed Fund in NSW. In the Underwritten schemes GIO set the premium and provision for claims payments for future years and make underwriting profits or losses. GIO underwrite in Western Australia, Australian Capital Territory, Tasmania and Northern Territory.
The role is accountable for the profitable growth and retention of Brokers and Customers and realise financial goals for department. This is a market visible role with expectation to develop strong relationships with your brokers to service and profitably grow the business. The role works closely with your Senior Underwriter attending meetings and working collaboratively to maximise profitability of workers compensation accounts.
What you’ll do:
- Maintain effective policy management standards and procedures, including quoting new business and renewals, accurate processing of new business, renewals and adjustments
- Underwrite risks in accordance with the delegation/authorities and standards
- Input promptly and accurately process new business, renewals, endorsements and cancellations of policies in accordance with regulations
- Support the Senior Underwriting with development and implementation of strategies aimed at growing the business
- With your Distribution partner, visit your brokers to meet and set working expectations – ongoing visitation, referral responses and phone contact.
What you’ll bring:
- Insurance or Business-Related Experience, minimum 1 year workers compensation experience (desired)
- Knowledge on pricing variables such as burning cost, CEDs and policy extensions relative to risk (desired)
- Understanding of insurance portfolio drivers across loss ratio and operating costs
- Ability to consult and develop sound relationships
- Ability to interact and influence key stakeholders.
