Lead the strategy and future direction of Suncorp’s Control Centre

Suncorp is seeking an experienced and visionary Suncorp Control Centre (SCC) Manager to lead the strategy, governance, and capability uplift of our critical disaster intelligence and response function. Based at our Disaster Management Centre in Brisbane, this 12‑month contract offers the opportunity to shape how we leverage data, technology, geospatial insights, and emerging innovation to protect customers and communities when it matters most.

About the Role

As the SCC Manager, you will own the SCC vision, strategy, and operational roadmap, ensuring alignment with the Disaster Management Centre of Excellence and broader enterprise priorities. You will drive capability development, foster a high‑performing and resilient team culture, oversee governance forums, and lead strategic technology and vendor partnerships.

This role is suited to a strategic leader with strong governance capability, deep understanding of emerging data and technology trends, and the ability to work across complex stakeholder groups.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership & Governance

  • Set and deliver the end‑to‑end SCC strategy and long‑term capability roadmap.
  • Ensure alignment with enterprise guardrails and Disaster Management priorities.
  • Lead SCC governance forums, decision pathways, and escalation processes.
  • Translate organisational objectives into sustainable disaster intelligence solutions.

Technology, Data & Innovation

  • Provide strategic leadership on the use of geospatial, AI, digital, and emerging technologies to enable scalable and effective disaster response.
  • Ensure SCC technology solutions are fit‑for‑purpose, integrated, and future‑ready.
  • Build strong relationships with Technology & Operations, Data Science & AI, and external vendors.

Stakeholder & Partner Management

  • Manage dependencies across Disaster Management, Home Claims Customer, Technology, Risk, Legal, and Procurement.
  • Represent the SCC in executive, cross‑functional, and external forums, including government and councils where SCC insights can improve community resilience.
  • Act as the key conduit for vendor performance, compliance, and commercial alignment.

People Leadership

  • Lead, develop, and uplift the capability and wellbeing of SCC Leads, Senior Advisors, and supporting roles.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, collaboration, and innovation.

What You’ll Bring

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in insurance (desired).
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (desired).
  • Experience in data, digital, AI, or geospatial domains at a strategic level.
  • Strong background in governance, stakeholder management, and investment prioritisation.
  • Demonstrated experience leading teams and building capability.
  • Proven ability to influence, negotiate, and build cross‑functional relationships.
  • Strong understanding of data analytics, geospatial technology, and emerging digital trends.
