This position reports to the Associate Vice President for Institutional Data and has full accountability for responding to requests for institutional information and for the submission of data to external entities. The incumbent has expertise in the core responsibilities of the Office and uses best practices in determining data and analysis. This information will be used by senior leadership to make informed decisions about the environmental context in which the University operates including peer institutions. 1. Lead and Direct the Institutional Research function on a day-to-day basis, manage the staff and maintain a cycle of regular institutional studies and reports, archival data and key indicators to support the recurring decision-making needs of the University (25%)
* Manage the Institutional Research Staff, including planning, assigning and reviewing work
*Provide leadership and supervision necessary for an equitable and efficient distribution of work
* Responsible for providing staff development opportunities and training
* Have oversight of the Departmental website
* Maximize office productivity with appropriate software applications and up-to-date technology
* Research and develop resources that create timely and efficient workflow
* Formulate procedures for the management of records
* Track and monitor on-going Institutional Research surveys and projects
* Oversee data management and storage of institutional data stored in unit’s data warehouse
2. Lead and direct research projects conducted through the institutional research function in support of the University Strategic Plan and inform decision makers about the environmental context in which it operates (25%)
* Oversee the course evaluation process; provide expertise to the Academic Coordinators, Faculty Chairs and individual faculty members concerning the administration and processing of course evaluations; serve as the primary resource to individual faculty members to aid in the improvement of curriculum, faculty development and better understanding of student satisfaction
* Conduct quantitative and qualitative research and analysis, interpret data for use in strategic planning, assessment and decision support and prepare written summaries and reports of research findings and recommendations; design and implement survey research projects, program complex web-based surveys, and administer web-based surveys
* Analyze data using a variety of statistical methods (Regression, ANOVA, T-test) to interpret results and prepare summary reports
* Collect and analyze data from internal and external sources
* Perform comparison and benchmark analyses
3. Advise senior leadership and staff on matters related to institutional research, create innovative methods for the analysis and presentation of information for use in strategic planning and decision making, and have thorough knowledge and expertise of institutional data including policy, usage, and integrity (25%)
* Serve as data steward of Institutional Research related data and as primary contact for official University information
* Direct the creation and implementation of institutional research data policies regarding institutional data and data definitions based on best practices of the profession
* Determine, create and review data collection and analysis used for strategic planning, assessment and institutional policy analysis
* Respond to internal data requests and mandatory external reports, including state and federal reporting and requests from private agencies
* Serve on University standing committees or ad hoc committees that require Institutional Research representation
* Hold primary responsibility for the development of methods for gathering and analyzing institutional data
* Hold full responsibility, working with Library and Technology Services Cyber Security Team, for the integrity and security of institutional data used in both internal analysis and external reporting
* Accountable for the verification of the data stored in the department’s data warehouse
* Provide a central source for the dissemination of University data to internal and external constituents
4. Fully responsible for responses to requests for institutional information; responsible for the submission of data to external sources as required by government agencies, accrediting agencies, consortiums and publishers (25%)
* Serve as the University’s IPEDS Keyholder and Middle States Institutional Profile Key User
* Create best practices used in determining the data and analysis required to support the needs of senior leadership including analysis that informs senior leadership about the environmental context in which the University operates including peer institutions
* Responsible for internal and external reporting including college guides and rankings
* Collect and analyze data from internal and external sources
* Supervise all processes associated with the extraction, collection, evaluation, analysis and reporting of institutional data
* Determine and assure accuracy of census enrollments as well as accuracy and timeliness of various census reports and annual University information
* Review the publication and ensure maintenance of public information available on the website, as well as design and update official reporting documents shared internally and externally
* Respond to internal and external ad-hoc data requests from senior officers, committees and external constituents in an accurate, efficient and timely fashion, including the accreditation process

Qualifications
Master's Degree in Social or Behavioral Sciences, Education, Economics, Statistics, or other quantitative oriented discipline; Doctorate Degree is preferred
Eight or more years related work experience
Experience collecting and using data to solve problems
Superior quantitative and analytical skills
Strong interpersonal skills; ability to create successful working relationships with a variety of team members and stakeholders
Critical thinking and decision making
Proven ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and a high degree of initiative for bringing tasks to completion
Excellent computer skills with experience using word processing, spreadsheet and database software
Successful completion of standard background checks including but not limited to: social security verification, education verification, national criminal background checks, motor vehicle checks, PATCH, FBI fingerprinting, Child Abuse Clearance and credit history based upon the requirements of the position
