Classification Range $16.90 - $24.00 per hour
Anticipated hiring range depending on qualifications, not to exceed $17.

Work Schedule

Work hours may be scheduled between 7:00 a.m. – 10:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, up to 20 hours per week. Schedules may vary based on operational needs, including weekends, campus breaks or closures (e.g., Spring Break, Summer Session, and Winter Session

Training Availability Requirement:

Employees must be fully available during scheduled breaks while in training (e.g., Spring Break, Summer Session, and Winter Session). Time off will be granted only after all required training has been successfully completed.

Job Summary

Position Summary:

Under general supervision, Parking Service Officers (PSOs) work collaboratively with full-time Parking Officers to enforce campus parking regulations and provide assistance to the University community and visitors. PSOs play a key role in supporting daily parking operations across university parking lots and structures and are expected to perform all duties with professionalism, efficiency, and integrity.

Job Duties:

Parking Enforcement

Under general supervision, Parking Service Officers patrol University parking facilities and issue parking citations for violations of University parking and traffic regulations and/or the California Vehicle Code. Enforce regulations related to accessible parking spaces and identify misuse of DMV disabled person placards. Recover lost or stolen parking permits. Immobilize vehicles with five (5) or more delinquent parking violations.

Public Services

Assist with parking facilities within the university by escorting emergency vehicles as needed. Including responding to and assisting during emergencies.

Information Services

Assist students, faculty, staff, and visitors by providing directions and parking-related information. Observe and report incidents, safety concerns, and suspicious activity to University Police. Perform other duties as assigned. 

Minimum Qualifications

Ability to learn and perform assigned work; follow oral instructions; work cooperatively with faculty, staff, and other students; communicate effectively with all levels; and read and write English at a level appropriate to the position.

Required Qualifications

  • Current student at CSUF and is enrolled/registered (fees paid) in a current regular semester as a new or continuing student.
  • Student who has completed the prior semester (has not graduated), or who is registered for the subsequent semester.
  • In good academic standing (not on academic probation, continued probation, academic dismissal).
  • Student who is authorized to work in the United States and can provide employment eligibility documents.
  • Ability to understand and carry out verbal and written instructions.
  • Ability to observe and analyze situations and determine appropriate courses of action.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods, including in inclement weather.
  • Ability to push, pull, or lift traffic equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.

Driving Requirements

  • Must possess a valid California driver’s license (Class C minimum).
  • Must have at least six (6) months of active driving experience.
Background Check  A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily and is required for this position. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.

Preferred Qualifications

Customer service experience preferred.

Pursuant to the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act, the current Annual Security Report (ASR) is available for viewing at: https://hr.fullerton.edu/risk-management/clery-act/. This report contains the current security and safety-related policy statements, emergency preparedness and evacuation information, crime prevention and sexual assault prevention information, and drug and alcohol prevention programming. The ASR also contains statistics of Clery Act crimes for California State University, Fullerton for the last three (3) calendar years. Paper copies are available upon request at the CSUF Police Department.

 

Notice of Availability of the Annual Fire Safety Report (AFSR)
In addition, pursuant to the Higher Education Opportunity Act, the AFSR is also available at https://hr.fullerton.edu/risk-management/clery-act/. The purpose of this report is to disclose statistics for fires that occurred within California State University, Fullerton housing facilities for the last three (3) calendar years, and to distribute fire safety policies and procedures intended to promote safety on campus. A paper copy of the AFSR is available upon request by contacting the Housing Office located at The Housing & Residential Engagement Main Office.
