As a Family Advocate at the Lakeland Center in Rathdrum, you will play a vital role in connecting families with resources, supporting family goals, and fostering meaningful relationships that strengthen the well-being of children and communities.
In this dynamic role, you will conduct home visits to assess family strengths and needs, assist families in developing and achieving goals, and provide support during challenging situations. You will recruit and enroll families, participate in classroom activities, conduct health and developmental screenings, and connect families with community resources and services. You will facilitate parent meetings and educational opportunities, collaborate with teachers and local agencies, maintain accurate documentation, and serve as a valued member of the team.
We are looking for someone with exceptional customer service and interpersonal skills who is passionate about supporting children and families. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong written, verbal, and organizational abilities, is comfortable using technology and data management systems, and brings a positive, strengths-based approach to early childhood development, health, and family services. Success in this role requires professionalism, sound judgment, respect for confidentiality, and the ability to build collaborative relationships with families and community partners while representing Head Start with integrity and compassion.

Minimum Qualifications
Education:
Level I: A credential or certification in social work, human services, family services, counseling or a related field.
Level II: Bachelors degree in social work, human services, family services, counseling or a related field.
Experience:
Experience as a staff or volunteer in a preschool classroom.
Required License and/or Certifications:
•Register with Idaho STARS and participate in the professional development system.
•Meet all training and certification requirements for childcare licensing and Head Start Program Performance Standards.
•Maintain current Infant/child & Adult CPR and First Aid.
•Pass an enhanced background check including fingerprinting, as required by Head Start Program Performance Standards and Child Care Licensing requirements, prior to first day of work.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
•Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
•Working knowledge of computers and commonly used software for Internet and e-mail access, word processing and data collection and management.
•Positive approach to Early Childhood Development programs, health and social services.
•Demonstrated written, oral, and organizational skills.
•Understanding of theories of social work ethics, early childhood education and child and family development including family systems.
•Demonstrate professional ethics and confidentiality.
•Represent the Head Start program in the community and with other professionals, positively and with professionalism.
Starting pay range: $20.63 - $22.00
Pay Grade: 69% FTE
Work Site Location: Head Start - Lakeland
Work Schedule: August through June
