About the role

We are seeking Senior Program Managers to join NSW Public Works (NSWPW) within the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development (DPIRD). The role is based in the Parramatta office and is in the NSWPW Greater Sydney Region business unit, and is predominantly office based, and client-side project management.

You will lead a multidisciplinary team of in-house project managers to deliver assigned projects and/or programs which will include the management of resources, budgets, programs and stakeholders/clients. Typical projects will involve design management, procurement and contract management of NSW Government and Local Government infrastructure. This is an opportunity for a senior leader to join our management team and play an integral role in developing and delivering commercial and strategic objectives.

About you

To be considered for this role you will have:

  • excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • the commitment to ensure excellence in project delivery, client development and engagement, and people leadership
  • experience managing a team and portfolio in the design or construction sector
  • be a motivated leader with proven ability to build a collaborative team, engage staff and develop capability and potential in others
  • proven experience planning, developing and delivering key business strategic and operational initiatives
  • extensive working experience in project management of capital/infrastructure works, design management, NSW Gov procurement, and contractor management activities on construction projects
  • University qualifications in Building, Project Management, Architecture or Engineering are preferred but appropriate trade, post-trade or tertiary qualifications and/or equivalent relevant working experience in project management will be considered
  • well-developed knowledge and understanding of current Work Health and Safety legislation and regulations is preferred
  • a current NSW Driver Licence and be willing to travel to regional locations for project meetings, including overnight stays, this may be necessary sometimes but is not normal
