This position is a Grade: 11 - 40 with an approximate salary range of $82,670-$100,570 and is subject to change based on experience, skills and qualifications.
Key Responsibilities:
• Oversee the planning, design, and execution of Drupal-based and HTML websites, managing departmental priorities, workflows, and budgets. Supervise senior web developers and external contractors while fostering professional growth and maintaining operational efficiency.
• Serve as primary project manager, defining scope, goals, timelines, and deliverables in collaboration with content creators and cross-functional teams to produce high-quality, on-brand, and standards-compliant web experiences.
• Partner with Library and Technology Services and other university stakeholders to align websites, streamline workflows, reduce redundancy, and uphold university-wide goals, policies, and digital standards.
• Direct the design, development, and growth of Drupal-based web solutions that support recruitment, academic, and institutional goals. Ensure a stable, secure, and efficient systems environment through proactive management, upgrades, and content migrations.
• Oversee the development of tools, services, and processes that enhance website deployment, hosting, and management in alignment with the university’s content strategy. Collaborate on system administration, complex upgrades, and ongoing improvements to optimize performance and reliability.
• Manage version control, documentation, and training for content editors; ensure proper account administration and consistent use of the CMS.
• Drive engagement by ensuring all web content is accessible, accurate, and optimized for SEO, AIO, and other discoverability strategies. Leverage analytics to assess performance, improve user experience, and strengthen site architecture and navigation.
• Collaborate with the Director of Multimedia Content to maintain up-to-date, compliant, and error-free web content. Manage quality assurance tools, ensure Section 508 and accessibility compliance, and coordinate emergency and crisis communications for the university website.
• Evaluate emerging digital, AI, and immersive technologies (AI/AR/VR) to guide future integrations. Serve as a thought leader on AI adoption, misinformation protocols, and web governance, fostering collaboration and digital readiness across the university.
• Diagnose and resolve web development, production, and publishing issues through research, testing, and collaboration with users or contracted support. Identify root causes and propose effective solutions to ensure smooth digital operations.
• Assist in evaluating and testing new devices, workflows, software upgrades, and feature enhancements to strengthen system performance and reliability.
• Frequently collaborate with Executive Director, Internet Services and New Media, to establish contingency plans and to initiate protocols for emergency and crisis communications relative to the University website and business continuity
• May occasionally require flexible hours to support system or content updates or assist with communications during time-sensitive situations.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Marketing, Liberal Arts, Computer Science, Information Technology or related field
• Five to eight years of related work experience within a marketing, communication, and/or web development organization required
• SEO/AIO/AEO/GEO Techniques, Certification
• Web Accessibility Training and Certification
• DevOps Training for IT managers
• Solid understanding of website production workflow and management. Expertise in modern web development and related internet technologies
• Experience developing HTML and Drupal-based websites
• Understanding of social media platforms, digital advertising platforms and integrated digital campaigns
• Ability to work across a large, matrixed organization and create a sense of community and belonging
• Deep management experience, ability to give and receive feedback and maintain a culture of transparency
