Classification Range $16.00 - $24.00 per hour

Anticipated hiring range depending on qualifications, not to exceed $22.50 per hour.

Job Summary

The Center for Internships & Community Engagement (CICE) creates linkages between higher education, community organizations and professional offices and strives to create high quality community-based experiences that are beneficial to all involved. CICE is committed to pursuing the university's mission to create "experiences in and out of the classroom, so that students develop the habit of intellectual inquiry, prepare for challenging professions, strengthen relationships to their communities and contribute productively to society."

The Titans Program provides after-school programming for over 700 children, grades 1st through 12th. The Program staff provides developmentally appropriate programs that focus on the process of learning while also helping students enjoy many other enriching experiences. We encourage not just learning, but also the love of learning.

Under direct supervision, a Titans Tutor will:

 Tutor in reading, science, and math.

 Work with students from grades 1‐12.

 Assist with homework assignments.

 Conduct small group tutoring sessions.

 Track tutoring sessions and outlining student progress.

 Develop tutoring skills.

 Help to develop, collect and make available materials to improve tutoring/teaching sessions.

 Attend training sessions.

 Maintain a healthy and safe environment.

 Other duties as reasonably assigned

Minimum Qualifications

Ability to learn and perform assigned work; follow oral instructions; work cooperatively with faculty, staff, and other students; communicate effectively with all levels; familiarity with Microsoft Office programs; and read and write English at a level appropriate to the position.

Required Qualifications

  • Current student at CSUF that is Federal Work-Study eligible.
  • Current student at CSUF and is enrolled/registered (fees paid) in a current regular semester as a new or continuing student.
  • Student who has completed the prior semester (has not graduated), or who is registered for the subsequent semester.
  • In good academic standing (not on academic probation, continued probation, academic dismissal).
  • Student who is authorized to work in the United States and can provide employment eligibility documents.
  • Have and maintain a 2.5 GPA
  • Able to work at least 3 days a week Monday - Friday from the hours of 2:00 pm – 6:00 pm
  • Have own transportation to get to school sites in Buena Park

Preferred Qualifications

 

  • Possess maturity, respect for youth, ability to listen with patience and an open mind
  • Knowledge of English grammar, basic reading and math skills;
  • Must be dependable and committed
  • Maintain clear and appropriate boundaries

Physical Requirements

Standing, sitting, lifting up to 20lbs, work in classroom setting

Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Crime Statistics Act Notification:
Pursuant to the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act, the current Annual Security Report (ASR) is available for viewing at: https://hr.fullerton.edu/risk-management/clery-act/. This report contains the current security and safety-related policy statements, emergency preparedness and evacuation information, crime prevention and sexual assault prevention information, and drug and alcohol prevention programming. The ASR also contains statistics of Clery Act crimes for California State University, Fullerton for the last three (3) calendar years. Paper copies are available upon request at the CSUF Police Department.

 

Notice of Availability of the Annual Fire Safety Report (AFSR)
In addition, pursuant to the Higher Education Opportunity Act, the AFSR is also available at https://hr.fullerton.edu/risk-management/clery-act/. The purpose of this report is to disclose statistics for fires that occurred within California State University, Fullerton housing facilities for the last three (3) calendar years, and to distribute fire safety policies and procedures intended to promote safety on campus. A paper copy of the AFSR is available upon request by contacting the Housing Office located at The Housing & Residential Engagement Main Office.
