The Role

As a Business Analyst, you will liaise with business stakeholders in order to understand, analyse and articulate needs of functional requirements. With a keen interest in User Experience Design, you will have the chance to directly shape how hundreds of thousands of our customers interact with our services day-to-day.  In a department where we develop mobile applications and front end web applications, user experience design is key to a great customer experience.

Key Accountabilities

Customer

  • Strong relationships through engagement with customers and key stakeholders
  • Collaboration with customers to facilitate and positively influence solution development and ongoing support
  • Promote an end customer focus and push back on ‘nice to have’ business focused requirements
  • Understand and tailor requirements according to business needs in order to maximise business value
  • Lead the articulation of business needs and the facilitation of business and system solutions
  • Facilitating workshops, collaborative design sessions and performing customer journey mapping directly with product owners and stakeholders at all levels of the organisation
  • Communicate collaboratively throughout the design and costing process with technical stakeholders as part of managing expectations for business and solution
  • Support the business in identification of business benefit and value, tangible and intangible, for initiatives raised
  • Understand the business needs better than anyone, and move from reactionary planning to proactively leading and driving projects with business teams
  • Proactively identify and create proposals for UX improvements
  • Contribute to design and implementation of UX Strategies
  • Contribute to the development of the UX Roadmap

People

  • Make time for innovation and continuous improvement. Enable your team to improve what they do and try new ideas by managing and engaging your stakeholder
  • Challenge current procedures and blockers and take action for resolution
  • Collaborate across teams to deliver results
  • Positively influence resolution of problems and issues with consideration of existing competing priorities
  • Contribute to uplifting the culture of Digital and help leadership to lift engagement and enablement by fixing issues or escalating problems
  • Help, support and collaborate other Suncorp staff
  • Work with the Delivery Manager to drive synergies across other BT teams
  • Implement, lead and contribute to Portfolio BA Community forum

Risk

  • Understand and lift the security, risk and general IT controls within your team to the expectations of the Suncorp group and its regulators
  • Play a key role in the development of functional documentation, facilitating the management of changes if required, support of testing initiatives and the resolution of problems as they emerge
  • Validate and ensure that Solution deliverables meet business needs
  • Ensure solutions meet the business needs with low risk at each stage of project
  • Raise risks or breaches within 3 days of occurrence
  • Apply risk management practices in day to day work and planning
  • Take accountability for delivering results

Profit & Financials

  • Undertake solution analysis as required including design, costing, co-ordination and specification activities ensuring that requirement deliverables meet business needs and expectations
  • Support the business in production of cost benefit analysis and or production of business case submissions  
  • Be conscientious with Suncorp resources and minimise cost. Find and promote ways of saving money
  • Identify and promote process or practice changes that improve team productivity or reduce waste

Other

  • Support and promote your team goals
  • Ensure your team use agile practices and display the agile values
  • Facilitate/arrange cross team showcasing to enhance knowledge and awareness of your team
  • Contribute to workplace improvement and change
  • Any other task or duties as directed by Delivery Manager or line manager

Key Job Requirements

Responsibilities:

  • Requirements gathering and analysis using Agile techniques
  • Work closely with User Experience specialists, developers and testers to provide clarification when required
  • Write acceptance criteria in collaboration with the testing team
  • Actively participate in Agile processes including planning and estimation
  • Liaise and effectively communicate directly with key business users and stakeholders
  • Work with product owners
  • Elicit and document all business and technical requirements
  • Undertake competitor and market analysis as required
  • Facilitating workshops, collaborative design sessions and performing customer journey mapping directly with product owners and stakeholders at all levels of the organisation
  • Understanding of information architecture principles and ability to apply that understanding across different channels of interaction such as web, including responsive and native mobile
  • Strong understanding of website design and CSS principles alongside the ability to work directly with developers to make design changes quickly in working code
  • An understanding of iOS and Android native design patterns, guidelines and elements would be a distinct advantage
  • Create formal user stories based on functional and non-functional requirements
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities
  • A customer centric, design evangelism personality would ideally be part of who you are along with willingness to challenge the status quo to deliver outstanding experiences for our customers            

Skills and experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience working as a Senior Business Analyst / Technical analyst
  • A passion for innovation, Agile and delivering exceptional customer experiences
  • Experience in software development lifecycle
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a proven ability to build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Experience using agile methodologies to documents requirements
  • Demonstrate excellent decision making and judgement skills
  • Leadership skills and the ability to work independently or effectively within a group environment
  • Excellent verbal communication and workshop/training facilitation skills
  • Ability to interact with a diverse group, executives, managers and subject matter experts
  • Experience using development software tools such as JIRA, Confluence, etc.
  • Understanding of information architecture principles and ability to apply that understanding across different channels of interaction such as web, including responsive and native mobile
  • Proven experience of facilitating workshops and collaborative design sessions
  • Positive, proactive and a team-oriented attitude
  • Desire to learn and share with a team
  • Great attention to detail
